MMVs are music videos where existing manga panels are cut and animated to the song. The manga featured in this video is Witch Hat Atelier by Kamome Shirahama.
This was my second MMV, so I had refined some of the techniques I learned about in my first video (Dungeon Meshi MMV) and the focus of this project was to have more animated parts. This meant a lot of extra time preparing each manga panel before importing the pieces into After Effects, since I was cutting and redrawing a lot more pieces in each image. Overall I think the extra effort is worth it, since being able to animate the more granular pieces adds to the overall effect of making the images feel more alive.
