This project was to create a logo, website, business stationery, and product mock up for the new company Aloha Landscaping & Agriculture, a Hawaii based company that grows food for local food hubs and provides landscaping services for Hawaii residents. As a new company with no existing design documentation, a lot of conversation was had to determine the colors, aesthetics, and common design elements for the brand.

While making the initial sketches, there was a lot of discussion around what felt more local and specific to Hawaii versus things that felt generically “tropical.” The client also preferred logos that were related to both aspects of the company, encompassing landscaping and agriculture. The idea selected for a second round of sketches was the design of a hand holding a taro plant in a circle. Taro is a plant that has a lot of cultural significance to Hawaii as much of the plant can be used. Green, brown, and white were chosen as the brand colors to further emphasize the company’s connection with nature. A script style font with low width contrast was chosen for the logo, as script fonts fit with a lot of local style branding and would emphasize ALA’s connection to Hawaii while the low contrast kept it feeling modern.

The final logo:

The website design was for a simple two page website. The first page is a landing page with a brief summary about the company and some of the services they offer, the second page being more in depth and including a contact form to directly get in touch.

Figma embeds automatically set the scale/zoom so it is recommended to click the full screen button and to view on desktop

This project also included creating templates for business stationery. Business cards, envelopes, and a letter template were created that kept within Aloha Landscaping & Agriculture’s design colors and themes. The template used for the mockup image below can be found here.

The final piece for this project was creating a product mock up. I made a quick 3D model of a fruit box using Maya and added ALA branding to the model in Substance Painter to show what a product like this would look like.
